Since 1994, Congressman Steven C. LaTourette has taken pride in representing the citizens of the Northeast Ohio's 14th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. Known as a fiscally conservative, moderate Republican, the Akron Beacon Journal says LaTourette has "delivered for his district and the region...and has been refreshingly independent-minded."

LaTourette brings hundreds of millions of dollars to the Greater Cleveland area for bridges, roads, railroads, and airport improvements. A member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, LaTourette serves as Chairman of the Railroad subcommittee overseeing the safety and security of America's largest rail companies: Amtrak, Norfolk Southern, and CSX.

LaTourette has authored numerous provisions as a member of the House Committee on Financial Services. LaTourette's Credit Union Membership Access Act was signed into law in 1998, and has made credit union membership accessible to millions of Americans. In December 2003, LaTourette's diligence provided safe-guards for consumers at risk for identity theft, including access to free annual credit reports.

Formerly the Co-Chair of The Great Lakes Task Force, and now the Co-Chair of Northeast-Midwest Congressional Coalition's Manufacturing Task Force, LaTourette has spent his tenure in Congress taking special care of environment. LaTourette is focused on protecting regional energy, manufacturing, transportation, and environmental policy in Ohio. In addition, LaTourette has authored major Great Lakes legislation, including the reauthorization of the National Invasive Species Act, and has been actively involved in efforts to prohibit drilling in the Great Lakes, and the sale and exportation of Great Lakes' water.

In addition to embracing the future for Ohioans, LaTourette believes in fostering remembrance of the past. Since 1995, LaTourette has been a passionate member of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council.

LaTourette's legislative accomplishments and voting record have been lauded by numerous groups including: Watchdogs of the Treasury, National Federation of Independent Business, National Tax Limitation Committee, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, 60 Plus Association and Seniors Coalition.

Prior to his election to the House of Representatives, LaTourette served from 1987 to 1994 as Lake County Prosecutor. In 1990, he was named Prosecuting Attorney of the Year in Ohio for his successful prosecution of 13 members of a murderous religious cult. LaTourette is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Cleveland Marshall College of Law. He is a father of five and lives in Concord, Ohio.
